	If you are considering replacing your gas fired water heater, we would ask that you consider more options, than the standard chimney vented tank, that is the most common in our area. Most furnaces sold in western New York are now High Efficiency and do not vent into the traditional chimney. This leaves your old water heater fighting to vent enough heat into the chimney so there is not flue gas condensation. We recommend that you purchase your new water heater with the future in mind. A new Direct vented unit is more efficient and safer. Some may even be able to provide more hot water. Then when you replace your furnace your old chimney is out of the picture and you have improved your home's value. If you have already replaced your water heater and are getting an updated High Efficiency Furnace, a Chimney Liner may be recommended for your water heater flue unless you thought ahead and also got an updated style of water heater.
